Brian has been a guide and passionate outdoor adventure educator for over 30 years. As coordinator of the Mountain Adventure Skills Training Program at the College of the Rockies Fernie campus he has introduced over 400 students to the love of mountains winter and summer. Teaching Avalanche Skills courses is a special treat as students are always stoked to explore the backcountry on skis and snowboards. “After our intense scrutiny of tree wells, I have a greater respect and fear for them,” says MAST program coordinator, Brian Bell. “With the results of this research, we, along with CMH, will be able to publish best-practices guidelines for tree well incidents and, most importantly, help to make the backcountry a safer place for all to enjoy.”
